Do You Know How To Do The Dance Dip?

Dance Dip Pose

Couple: Shreya & Anuj / Photographer: Matei Horvath

Nope, I’m not talking about some hot cheesy stuff you dunk your chips in (though that sounds amazing right now!). Or the latest fad on Tik Tok (have you seen it?).

I’m talking about that iconic pose you’ve seen so many couples end their first dances with. When the leader dips their follower back dramatically and they gaze in each other’s eyes, and then kiss.

And then their guests cheer wildly, applauding the triumphant couple as they finish their first dance with flair.

That’s a dance dip!

But do you know how to do it? (If you don’t, it can end in disaster… like it did for this couple.)

Falling bride after dance dip

Okay. Want to avoid that fiasco (and possible concussion 😳)?

Here are the 4 steps to do the dance dip easily (and safely!)

That’s right. I am providing you with this FREE TRAINING because I care about you and I want you to look amazing during your first dance!

  1. Check your surroundings

You want to make sure that you have space to perform the dip. Dipping your partner into another couple or table wouldn’t be fun.

  2. Create support with your arms

Use a two-handed dip for maximum support and safety. Shifting from a standard closed position, the lead will bring both arms around the follower’s waist while the follower (with their weight on their right foot) will put their hands on the lead’s shoulders. (This pose forms an intimate hug too!)

  3. The lead steps out into a side lunge

After you have your arms in position, the lead will step out into a side lunge, bending their left knee. Leads, make sure to keep your body upright as you do this. Rotate steadily into the lunge to create the dip!

  4. Rotate back into the closed position

Rotate steadily back and bring the follower back into a standing pose. Now the lead and follower can move their hands back into the closed position.

Now, if you want to do more than a simple dance dip for your dance, you need our help! We will create an entirely customized first dance for you both, and teach you how to do all sorts of cool moves that will leave your guests oohing and aahing in amazement.
